Earth Obervation in Crisis Management - Copernicus Emergency Management Service
Earth observation plays a crucial role in civil protection by providing valuable data on changes. Satellite imagery and aerial imagery enable actors of all types and at all levels to detect large-scale damaging events such as forest fires and floods and plan appropriate emergency response and evacuation measures. This presentation describes how Copernicus Emergency Management Service can support.

The Copernicus Emergency Management Service – A Corner Stone for an efficient Crisis Management and Preventive Actions
Climate change is taking its toll at large scale. Disasters such as flooding caused by severe rainfall or windstorm events are increasing in frequency and intensity. The effect of altering climatic conditions and its impact on the global and continental meteorological systems is undeniable.
The Copernicus Emergency Management Service (CEMS) supports national entities and international organisations during disaster preparedness, the immediate emergency response as well as the recovery phase.
The presentation showcases the potential of and how the CEMS can support actors of the emergency management and disaster risk domain throughout all three phases of the emergency management cycle.
