About
Smart Mapping operates a central, modular development platform for an agile, flexible, and fully automated generation of cartographic products for the German surveying authorities. The primary focus is on replacing existing official geotopography products, but innovative and new products are also being implemented, particularly in the area of web maps and web services. The AdV standard products being stepwise developed will be published under the newly introduced product range called basemap.de. In addition to web maps in vector and raster formats, scale-based presentation formats will also be produced using the same process in the future to meet the ongoing demand for printed maps in dedicated scales. The basemap.de P10 at a scale of 1:10,000 has already been published, and a prototype for the 1:50,000 edition is currently being developed. The characteristics of AdV standard products from Smart Mapping are a uniform appearance, consistent terms of use, complete coverage of the Federal Republic of Germany, and highly up-to-date products. Thanks to its modular structure, the process can flexibly be extended to new data sources and new tools, thus enabling agile development. Official geospatial data and standard products also serve as background information for any technical application. The basemap.de Web Vector is particularly suitable for this purpose, as it can be adapted to individual requirements with relatively simple means and little effort. The map service is provided via a modern VectorTile interface (API) for easy integration into any application. This presentation will outline the current project status, the technology used, and the future direction of Smart Mapping. A second session will highlight exemplary applications and possible reuses of the provided data and services.
